2013 is here! I didn't actually go out anywhere last night. It was raining so I had to reject my friends' invitation to Malioboro which was one of the spots in town where they shot firework. I had enough of them last night just from my room, though. They kept me awake from a good hour. Somehow they were much louder than previous year eves.
By the way, three nights ago we went to see a cabaret show which is actually a weekly show. It was my first time. I was excited about going there although I became hesitant a couple hours before the show began. I almost told my friends I wouldn't make it, but I still made it for the sake of having promised them I would come. I was hesitant because I am honestly a little scared of drag queens and I knew the show was all about drag queens performing on the stage lip-syncing to various genres of songs.
Believe it or not, it turned out to be a very fun evening! I didn't hate any bit of the show. Thanks to my friends who were excited too, actually. At the end of the very quick show, we went out to meet with the performers and took photos with them. There was one performer that I was fascinated about; it was Rihanna. Perhaps it was the lights or something else, but he really looked a lot like Rihanna when on the stage.
Oh, that's Rihanna to my right!
After the show we went for late dinner. We had nasi goreng. It was my second time to be at the place. I normally wouldn't go to the place for some reasons but for my friends I did it. During dinner we talked about what we were going to do for the new year's eve. We had actually talked about throwing a BBQ party outside my house weeks ago, but we never talked about it again. So, we thought about going to a night club for the "eve", but we couldn't think of a place that was suitable for us. We are not really nightclub people. Some of us, myself included, used to be. My last time to a night club was last year, in Bali. I never go to any in Yogyakarta.
So, we knew we wouldn't go to any night club for the "eve". Alternatively, we thought about checking out some local hotels if they might have some sort of NYE party where we could dance madly to good sounding music. After doing some checking, it was either too expensive or the hotel just wouldn't have anything for the "eve". There was actually one option that we could go for. It was not very expensive and at a quite nice, new hotel. On its rooftop too! However... we became no longer excited after knowing the theme of the party: Bollywood. Hmmm... no. We would not pay such an amount of money to try hard to dance to Bollywood songs. None of us really enjoy listening to such songs.
So, I hope you all had a great first day of 2013. I was busy all day doing a schoolwork. I am actually just done with one due Monday next week. Next week and on is exam week. Last night I also made a video as part of my daily vlog project -which is going to end very soon this month. One year already! In the video, I talked about what I had gone through last year. What made me good. What made me one of the happiest men in the whole town. But also, what made me one of the saddest men in town. I didn't get emotional or anything in the video. The video lasted 7 minutes and I have failed twice uploading it to YouTube. I hope I can upload it tonight.
Still in the context of last night, I could have gone to join my friends at Malioboro it wasn't raining. I also would get some firework and fire them for the kids at home but we had to not have any firework like how we would celebrate NYE. And, if it had stopped raining at 11-ish last night, I would have gone to join a friend at a near Dunkin' Donuts cafe. It couldn't happen.
Nite nite, 2013 first day-ers! I'm a little peckish and worn out from today. I'm gonna grab something to eat now.
