Home improvement & room decor

Or, more like a home mess. A while ago I read a blog posting written by a blog friend of mine, Daisy, about her having a construction work just outside her house. I told her in my comment that we also had a construction work just outside our house. The thing is my dad wanted to renovate some parts of the house. So, the work has been going on for the past two weeks. The current state is quite far from the end. Later on the day I read Daisy's post I took a couple of photos. I said I wanted to show her the mess that we had at the time. A week or so has gone by since I said that. The look of the work is a lot different now since the progress of the work has been quite fast.

Here are the photos I took, I think, about a week ago:

Here is one I took two days ago right from inside my room just at my window:
One of the workers was hammering the old gate's roof

Dad is changing the gate. The old/current one is quite rusty already. Half of the fence around our house is also going to have some change. There will be a roof just outside my room on the same level of where my terrace stands. It will be quite a major change in the look of the entrance to the house.

Speaking of home changes, I also made some changes to my room. Since early this year I have been slowly (due to school) decorating my room. Here are some photos of what I have done the past week.

Since school I had less time to care for my room. I always hate a messy room except it's someone else's room that I don't live in. And since exam was over and it's been a holiday, last week I took time to reorganize my room while cleaning it up entirely. In the photos above you can see how messy my room was after I sorted stuff that were no longer in use like papers.

I also moved most college books under the bed since the space under it had never been used for anything but nothing. So, I thought why not lay a piece of patterned-white-themed thick fabric under the bed and move the books over there also.

Later on the day I went to a fabric store to get a couple of exactly the same sized fabrics to cover the lower bed that I had so that the books and everything could be 'hidden'.

Later in the week I had an idea to get some more lights for my room but I didn't want to hang a big possibly expensive chandelier or sort of hanging lighting. So, I thought, this is going to be a little ridiculous, why not go for a Christmas lighting? So, I went to a store specializing in selling lights to get a white Christmas lighting that is normally used to wrap a Christmas tree -as far as I remember from what my relatives did during Christmas.

So, I thought it'd be cool to place the series of lights going half around my bed and going around the place where my storage boxes are.

One thing that needs to be done is to paint one wall that faces the window navy blue. And, tomorrow we will ACTUALLY begin doing our Mona Lisa puzzle.

On a different note, the past few days my niece and nephew and I have been liking playing rounders. It was obviously my idea. A few days ago I felt like playing rounders as I loved playing it when I was a kid. So, I went to a sports shop to buy a tennis ball and a bat. Here are two photos taken on two different days.

I'm pretty tired now.
Hope you had a good day or night.
Ramadhan is coming up in less than two days. Happy Ramadhan to you!
Night night!

  1. I see you are having to deal with the mess that comes with renovations too. It seems they always have to make it look worse first before they can make it look better! Sounds like you will have some big changes there at your house.

I like how you neatened up your room by storing your books under your bed. I like the idea of white Christmas lights too. That's a kind of neat idea!

I bet your niece and nephew like it when you play games with them. You sound like a fun uncle to have around. :-)
