So, last night I watched a TV show about a food traveler in Turkey. He had lots of different kebabs from different kebab outlets. It made me crave kebab, like, so badly!! I then thought to myself "I will make kebab tomorrow!"
And, I did today.
Went to SuperIndo to get whatever it would take and there was in the supermarket that would allow me to make kebab. Obviously, I knew that I wouldn't be able to get the proper ingredients. I knew I had to improvise.
So, I thought about chicken nuggets and chicken sausages to replace the lamb. Ready-to-fry lumpia skin to replace the bread. Lettuce, baby tomatoes and celery, to replace whatever else you would find in a roll of kebab(!) :p :p
Well, okay, I didn't make kebab but "kebab".
First step was dry-frying the meats.
Did it in a HappyCall pan. I call it the magical pan. I hope you've heard of such branded pan otherwise you may have no idea why it's magical. Hehe.
After putting the dry-fried meats aside, I put the lumpia skin on the hot pan and started filling it with all the ingredients in good proportion, and not to forget some olive oil. Put some pepper, salt, and oregano.
Rolled, and let dry and cooked.
I had three whole rolls out of four. Mom got a bit, so did dad. Hehehe. They were totally fine and said it tasted tasty! What full lunch! I got very sick of kebab for a few hours since then! Hehehe -<^o^>-
Since I still had (still have!) a lot of the ingredients unused, I thought of making salad for dinner.
Voila!
So, that was how my day went today. I will check out your blog in a few minutes to see how yours went! :D
hahaha, so this is your own way of making "innovative" kebabs?? errr, looks like spring roll to me more than a kebab, hahahaha.. and using nuggets is just so, errr, fusion~~ :D
Looks like they would taste quite good, Rad. Kebab means something different to me here--usually meat and fruit and/or vegetables skewered on a stick and grilled. Good for you to try this on your own. I bet your family liked having you cook for them. The little hair man is cute! haha! :)
oh man, i didn't realize you're a good cook too! is there anything you can't do (you're a multi-linguist, you're a great interior decorator, etc). the food looks scrumptious (and creative!), i'd definitely order it if i saw it on the menu :D
damn man that looks good! :O *drools* I love kebab, or "kebab" whatever, I love food, and you seem to cook a lot (cookies/cakes last time) I will love you if you cook for me <3 how about that? sounds tempting? no? *sigh~
why is every food have to be so good looking? or is it only my eyes? or is it only me who's always hungry? and why aren't you raping my blog yet? (or have you?) are you leaving me alone in the dark corner? *sobs* but I thought we were friends~~ *cue dramatic music*
wow, I seem to talk more in someone's blog than in mine.. :|
you see, here's my problem, when I'm in a cute cafe with cute food... I ALWAYS forgot to take picture, when I see food I would be like... "OOOHH FOOOD!!!! nomnomnomnomnomnom~" and seconds later... "aaaaaahhh!! I forgot to take pic!!!" *cries in the corner*
