Green.
I wanna quickly show you how I take care of my zodia in my room, to keep it green and fresh looking most of the time.
Every now and then I pinch off any leaf that is dying and looking slightly imperfect. My reason why I do such thing to the plant is so that the plant will make use of the nutrition not to fix or repair the damage on the leaves but instead to grow new and fresher leaves.
I regularly spray water all over the leaves and make sure I do it evenly.
When the leaves are dry from the sprayed water, I give random leaves a wipe using my finger. I learned that a gentle touch on a leaf can stimulate better or faster growth. A gentle blow also does the same job.
I love it that it stays fresh and green! Besides, the plant produces this natural scent that smells like something that insects or mosquito won't like to be around.Next week I might bring in a new, different plant (flower one) that has been sitting downstairs in the terrace. I have trimmed most of the old, damaged leaves. It looks pretty bald at the moment.
Butterfly.
Today I saw a butterfly in the house on my way taking the steps towards downstairs. It was resting on a hanging light that I couldn't reach with hand. But, as I went back upstairs, I noticed it had moved to the wall of the steps. I slowly approached my finger towards it, and it didn't mind a ride to my room.
I took it out in my balcony and released it after I took some photos using my iPhone.

It was quite cute.
Gekko.
This big gecko, locally called tokek for the sound it makes, was found on the ceiling of one of our terraces downstairs. It just stood there doing nothing. I guess it was resting.
Actually, this photo was taken on the 8th of Feb, not today. I had wanted to talk about it in my blog but I kept forgetting it.There are maybe more than one gekko in or around our house as we are already used to hearing their calling from inside the house. But, it was the first time one of them showed itself with no fear of us.
That's all it!
Enjoy your night or day! I will enjoy my night :)
Nite nite!

i think it's a good idea to have some green plants in the room huh, to give more fresh oxygen..
ReplyDeletetrue! I inhale more oxygen than most people do! ahahahah
Deletewow, the butterfly didn't fly away and resting still on your hand?? and you are able to take close up photo of that gecko, cool.. but it looks a bit scary, those i see at home is plain gray without spots..
ReplyDeletethe gekko didn't seem to be afraid of us.
Deletewe do have the small geckos too in the house. gekkos are much much bigger than typical geckos :)
That plant is so pretty and green. You are doing a good job of taking care of it. The butterfly is beautiful. I like the design on its wings. The gecko is kind of cute too. :)

DeleteI hate geckos! And hated it when they "poop"ed everywhere.
ReplyDeleteBut I suppose they are in our home for a reason - one : to eat mosquitoes. xD
ahaha yes they poop all over the places! we just need to pay attention to the corners of the house when doing a cleaning :p
DeleteAnd they do eat mosquito and some other flying insects around the lights in the house ;)
You are sure taking care of your plant well. :)

ReplyDeletewow, again you've proven that creatures of nature really trust you. remember the last time, a bird came into your room (or something), and it allowed you to touch it too :D
It is mine too! Blue, also. I used to be called ijo which means green in an informal way at high school! :D
DeleteAhaha no, Sean. I'm sure if I wasn't gently approaching my finger, it would have flown away. hehe. But, who knows?! ;)) I hope animals love me back
I like how much care you put into taking care of your plant. We fare much worse with ours - another round of plants withering in our balcony garden. :(
