There is life in my dead terrarium

Again, the title says it all. Ahaha. I need to be more creative with my blog post titles.

Okay, so, yes, there is life in my dead terrarium. Three days ago I mentioned in one of my daily vlogs (click here for the video) that my only terrarium died. It was caused by the sunlight. I didn't know that this new room that I just moved in to a week ago was apparently more exposed to sunlight than the other room was. So, it just died.

I was planning on emptying the jar but hadn't had time to do it. But, today I found out that there is life that I didn't really notice before. I will show you some photos that I took today.

Here's how it looks right now. It's dead.

You are looking at a mold growing on a small rock. Not only that it looks green and healthy but there is this finger sticking up which shows that the mold is growing.

Then I noticed this baby plant too. The fact that the leaves face the direction from which the sun comes convinces me that the plant is alive.

There are actually baby molds all over the surface of the 'dead' soil that look green. They look like green tiny spots all over the surface among dead brown leaves. Obviously I couldn't notice them before because they were too tiny among the other much bigger plants that used to live.

This is even more exciting. I noticed this tiny snail! It was moving around. I don't know what it's feeding but the end of its transparent shell looks like it carries dirt in the inside. Could it survive by consuming dead leaves? Let's see.

And, this is even much more exciting! I did not even expect to see this at all. It was like finding a Bigfoot by accident in the Alaskan jungle. I saw this rather 'big' mini millipede. I'm pree sure there is a proper scientific name for this animal! I think the dirt that I dug back in November when I made the terrarium carried an egg of a millipede. And, it got so big so I guess there has been enough food in the terrarium.
Well, coincidentally, I made a video this midnight for my daily vlog in which I mentioned a textbook that I was downloading on my iPad. There is this new feature on iBook app called iBook 2 Textbook or something which basically allows you to download school textbooks. And, obviously the books are interactive complete with buffered ready to watch videos, 3D animation photos that you can move around, and stuff. Here's the video.


Ummm, yea. So, I am definitely not going to do anything to my 'dead' terrarium for now. I'm looking forward to seeing what's growing or living.

Oh, I remember watching this video on YouTube. It was about whether plants are intelligent living creatures. The so-far theory says that, in a simple way, plants survive by adapting to their environment instead of using their 'brain' to figure out what they want to do or not want to do. Here is the video if you have some minutes to waste.


Okay, it really is the sound affect that makes watching this video interesting. Ahah
So, yea, I'm looking forward to what might be growing in my closed terrarium. I'm actually a little worried about the animals living inside it because there is not much oxygen in the terrarium as the big plants are all dead. Again, I wanna know if the plants and animals might be able to adapt to a different environment.
