Note for myself

It is a new year which is still a couple of days old. If you feel happy about the new year, stay happy. Don't let people around you who don't celebrate the new year and are not so happy about it let your happy spirit down. Stay happy until the year ends. Try.

I was on Facebook on the last new year's eve and noticed some people being bitter about the fireworks and hanging out on the eve and basically celebrating the moment. As much as they have reasons for being bitter about all of that, don't let them let you down. Every moment is worth capturing. If you want, take your camera with you most of the time. Nothing happens twice exactly in the same way. Capture the moment. Avoid people who would usually turn you down. This new year should be the right time for a good change. Being always happy is not an easy thing to do. But, try. I will myself.

I posted this post because I've met people who keep saying that another year is just another year, and I was often influenced by them by simply agreeing. No, keep the good spirit. Nothing is ever the same. Nothing is really just another. Make a change. Make it not boring at all. Once again, try.

Try to think of needing to stay happy if you face negative people trying to turn you down.

Keep the good celebrating spirit. We certainly need more happy people. Avoid wars.

Perhaps another good reason why I'm making this post is so that I will feel embarrassed if I ever feel let down by someone or something and not try to take the good side out of a negative or bad situation. Last year was admittedly one of the toughest years I had to go through. A lot of lessons I could learn from it. The silver lining is I am able to say all this.

This should be one of a few of my new year's resolutions. Simply become a happier person.

And, just because you want to always be happy doesn't mean you always need to smile and look smiley all the time 'cause that'd be just plain weird! Hahahaha. Point is stay happy in the most appropriate way.

Stay happy by taking the best side out of every situation.
Stay happy by taking a deep breath and taking a few seconds thinking before you get all mad and angry.
Stay happy by doing things with your heart.
Stay happy by making other people happy.
Stay happy by being yourself in the most positive way.

Show your friends and others a good example even though it sounds or feels very awkward. You never know they will remember the example and have a less hesitation to do it to other people. I remember very well several moments with my brother where I recently showed him a few good examples and later he tried to be more comfortable doing them which used to be things that he was too shy to do. I noticed. I had a proud smile in my head.

And, obviously, I'm being very cheesy right now with this post and pretty dang sure tomorrow when I re-read this post I will be tempted to want to remove it ;))
But, no, I never will.
Because I want to try to make a happy year this time.

[Leave me with your thought(s)]

Post Scriptum
Later addition: This post was made to mainly motivate myself in the future if I ever feel down about something. If you feel motivated to want to stay happy, I will be happy for you. I'm not trying to make anyone happy unless they want to be happy. And... I might need to count how many times the word Happy has been mentioned ;))
12:26PM: I just found out that I passed the acceptance test for the Masters Degree I applied for :D
5:44PM: Sensei texted to inform today's class has been cancelled. Bummer. Hahaha. You can never get away from bad news, I guess ;))

  1. Stay happy be happy, Bananaz may not be celebrating in a grand way but never stop the young & old people from having fun. They should go through all phases of life then later there are no regrets.

  2. Looking on the positive side of things can change one's mood and outlook. I believe nobody can make one feel anything without one's permission. So, make it a point to stay happy no matter what.

  3. I didn't celebrate the eve in a grand way either, Bananaz. It was all fun, though, to see the kids and brother all happy and celebrating the eve with all the fireworks and stuff :D Family comes first, I guess? :p

  4. I agree with you HappySurfer. I wasn't trying to make anyone to be happy unless they want to be happy. I really wanted to motivate myself which was the point of the post. I want to look back at this post if I ever feel down in the future hehe. I hope this will work! :D Let's see the result in the end of the year when I will make a sort of report about it hahaha

  7. dammit, I've written like two pages phrase here and it disappeared because I clicked on a wrong thing, daaaammmmn... -_____-"

I like this kind of post, it motivates me, and that idea about bringing your camera everywhere is like goood~ I love that idea already :3 I want to travel more this year, but it seems quite hard since study life is going to get busier (according to what my senior told me)

I wanted to visit as much little indie cafe as I can, have you visited aglioo? they've got nice food there :9 and I miss coffee break jakal, it moves so far away near casa grande T__T I love coffee break, it's a nice place to hangout...

(and why am I talking about cafe here?)

ah, yeah.. I spent new year's eve on my rooftop, alone (well, my cat got scared of fireworks and she ran away --such companion she was) which sounds sad but that was actually nice, it gave me little time to contemplate what I've done, achieved, and what I haven't which is a LOT. lololol...

I love it about new year, a time for me to contemplate and plan. Not that I can't do it on daily basis, but... yeah, it's almost like birthday, knowing how old you've lived and remembering what you've got so far, and what you want to be... hah...

    okay, I should shut up.

in another note, have you visited artemy? the new one in kranggan? it's sooooo nice~ I'm craving for their peach mango ice cream, we should hang out there some time before school (yeah, school like 10 years ago kind of school, lol) started and suck the life out of you, llolololol...

There's Coffee Break at Gejayan, you know! Which is much closer than Casa Grande ;D

  11. Hey, Steph! I'm glad you're with me! And, when I encounter that group of people again I will remember you calling such wrongness Squidward Syndrome :))

  14. I like this post, Rad. We do have a choice. We can choose to be happy or we can choose to be unhappy. Keeping a positive outlook makes a big difference in how happy you are. No matter what situation you are in, try to find the bright side of it or see what you can learn from it.

Congratulations on passing your acceptance test to get your Masters!! That is fantastic news! I would think that would make you very happy. My older son is studying to get his Masters Degree. He just started this past August. Good luck to you in your studies! :)

  15. Thanks, Thomas! I will try my best to stay positive throughout the year :D

Steph, I like it really much when Squidward is so pissed off that he would not care so much at all about the two neighbors! I like his bored facial expression ;))

  16. I couldn't agree more on what you just said, Daisy. Oh, well, that's basically what I wanted to say in the post ;)) I'm sure it's not easy to always find the bright side of everything but trying is the only way to find it.

Oh, congrats to your son as well even though it's a little late :p

    Thanks for the wish! :D

anyway... yes we should visit those cafes becauuusee.. school starts next week for me, and you should stop janji janji palsu since... how many times already we've agreed on hanging out and ended up not meeting, instead going to the said place separately --" hella weird...

  25. Your design is marvelous. The blog template is rich. It is far removed from anything I have seen so far, and having been a designer in art and advertising as well as a writer and television producer and host, plus an author of many books, I think I speak with a bit of authority when I say, you should be making money on what you do.

  26. Why thank you, Mr Abraham Lincoln! That made my day! I don't get such comment everyday! ;))

  32. I have yet to make much money on writing but am in the process, now, of writing a book of short stories like those you have read. I am not sure who to send it to for publishing. Any suggestions?

Here is the comment I left back where you commented on my blog about women drivers.

"It was a small town. Women just didn't drive. Driving was a job for grown men. One of the reasons was the cars had to be hand-cranked to start and even adult men found that to be disheartening. The other reason was that was long before cars had heaters or air conditioning or power steering and brakes. Women, it was thought, did not have the strength to stand on the brake pedal and stop the car."

Oh, I'm actually writing a novel too but still in the first chapter ;)) My first unpublished book was printed back in 2005 or 2006, I guess... which is missing :'(

  35. Tiara, I will text you! Dondy is curious about the two places. Text me the exact location 'cause he wants to know as well ;)

  36. Hello Rad, I visited your blog from a link on another blog, Dancing With Daisy, which I follow. This post about being happy and keeping a positive outlook was very good. Too many people make the usual resolutions to lose weight, be kind, do good, etc. but then don't follow through. What they should do instead are some of the things you suggested and perhaps they would also be happier.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, thanks Beatrice for your time coming to blog :)

Yes, being happy means being happy. It shouldn't mean pretending to be happy. That would be a different thing.
