The tree collapsed

Remember when I talked about how I enjoyed my day because it was cloudy and just gorgeous? Click here to go to the post. Well, at that time I thought it was gonna rain. It didn't. A few weeks later, it started to rain. The wet season started yesterday, but today was really the day when it rained cats and dogs. As a result, my favorite tree collapsed.

Sad day, it was.

Here are some photos of the tree after the heavy rain today.

As soon as I saw from my room that the tree collapsed, I ran outside not forgetting to take my phone and took some photos. I didn't want to miss the last moment the tree was still on that ground because who knows tomorrow or later this week, it will be gone out of the area for ever. I do miss the tree already.

Much later after the rain stopped, I forced my mom to go outside to take some photos of me standing near the tree with the kids.

This tree produced sweet fruit. I love eating the fruit. Back then when I was a kid in my hometown, I already liked the fruit. I don't really know what the plant is called scientifically or locally here, but back in my hometown we called it seri tree. I suppose it's because the fruit look a bit similar to cherry and taste so sweet.

And, here are some photos of the tree back in 2009.

The trunk is still thin.

That's me! I do like climbing trees! I'm an ape! There was actually a small tree house which wasn't a house really. Some school kids built it. When the tree collapsed today, some parts of the 'tree house' were still there.

That's my niece.

Me again! LOL

I kept telling my mom today if we could just let the trunk lay there on the ground and let the people who would clean up the area cut off the small branches and leaves. I hope that the trunk will grow as some of the roots are still in the ground.

I guess that the tree collapsed because the weather had been super hot and dry for the past many, many months, and that the soil became so dry so that the roots didn't have a strong hold to support the entire weight of the tree when strong winds came today.

The problem is I almost always stopped by right under the tree every time I walked by it on my way to visit my neighbor or to get something at the store, or simply to enjoy a beautiful day. I just liked standing near the tree.

Well, what happened happened. There's actually a smaller tree of the same type about ten meters away from the one I talked about but it kinda has a different feel to it as it doesn't grow up so tall but towards the side -which is weird, actually.

Night all! I'm tired. I found a lot of flying ants in my room which I've got rid of. You do know when the wet season comes, all these bugs go out to look for shelter. I do clean up my room so the ants were in my room not because I piled stuff that might attract them to come in. Hehe.

Night night!

  1. When I was a kid in my front garden there was a tree, I don't know the type bit it produced the most amazing blossoms every spring. In the October 87 'hurricane' it was uprooted and fell on a car. Amazingly the car wasn't damaged at all but the tree had to be removed.

    Happy memories.

  2. Actually, there were two cars parking nearby the tree. You can see a bit of the back of one of the cars in picture 1. My neighbor was super happy that the tree fell to a different side.

  3. When it rains hard in KL, everything flies and chaotic. Now Bangkok is flooded like hell and I see all my FB friends submerged in water!

  4. It's everywhere around the world, I guess! which is pretty scary.
