I took a quick picture of the sky today just after midday time.
On top of that, most fruit in our yard are almost ready to harvest! We grow lots of plants in our narrow, small yard. Like there's almost no more space for another tree or plant. Although we can still walk between them because my dad left just enough space for a pathway. We grow mango trees, an avocado tree, passion fruit vines, a cempedak tree (explanation of this fruit will be added to when I show you the picture later in this post), and many, many others.
The first fruit that came first ripe and ready to harvest was the mango. We have enjoyed the sweet fruit for several times since last week and the fruit keeps coming on the trees. We do love mango so this has been and will be really good!
You can see in the picture above a couple of groups of the fruit from different branches. Sometimes, my dad wraps the fruit in a plastic bag like that white one just to keep it away from the fruit bats which like to chew on the mango at night and leave them rotten while still hanging on the branches.
The next fruit that is very ready to harvest is the passion fruit. We actually have some already picked yesterday and that we keep in a small basket to wait until they get ripe enough for us to juice up.
It's their season, and there's nothing we can do about it because they grow SUPER fast. I can't even tell you. So, basically, there are seasons when the vine grows very slow and becomes very non-productive at all, and when the vine grows SUPER fast and the leaves and everything looks super healthy and green and fresh. I wish you were here to see what I'm talking about. I'm not even joking :D
The last fruit that is going to be ready to harvest is called cempedak. I have not found the English word for the fruit, or it may not even exist in English because it's a local fruit. Basically, it is from the same family as the jack fruit. Cempedak is much more narrow and actually tastes different. If you don't like the smell that jack fruit produces, you just don't want to know more of cempedak. The fruit tree itself does not really grow in this region where I live. My dad actually brought the seed to Java from Borneo/Kalimantan where we used to live like 7 years ago. So, this will be the first harvest for this fruit from the tree!
Here's an example of a wrapped one.
I asked my mom when we can actually enjoy the fruit, and she said "I think, in January or December". I was a little disappointed right there. But, it's ok. It's going to take some time for us to finish the mango and passion fruit until December. It's actually going to be the right timing so we won't run out of fruit until early next year!
The last thing that I wanted to talk about is what I cooked with my mom on this rather happy day. We made... ummm what should I call this dish?... mushroom noodles? Well, the two main ingredients were rice noodles and ear-mushrooms. Absolutely delicious! I might have nothing left for everybody else tonight. Hehe.
Alright, I think that's all that I wanted to share with you today.
Hope you had a good day today if you're reading this in your bed ready to fall asleep, or have a good day if it's just starting :)
