Here is a photo of my website's previous design:

And, here's a still photo of the new design:

While on the previous design, I got several comments on how hard it was to find or locate the Archive button. It was there but, even to me, it was inconveniently hard to find. At that time I didn't know what to do about it because I would have needed to change the layout which would have taken a long time for me to finish. I waited until I knew it was the time for the website to have a new look. And, it happened to happen last night -out of my expectation.
Designing has always been a fun activity for me. This time I managed to remove the three annoying default buttons from Blogger (usually located at the bottom of the last blog post), which said Home, Older Post, and Subscribe to: Atom. I managed to find the codes and remove them. It's cleaner now.
I have also taken off the Google Ads which used to make my website slightly animated.
The Facebook Like button is still up there. I went for a different type of button this time by not including photos of my Like-ers.
I actually want to have a Most Recent Posts widget but I still can't figure out the best place and display for it.
On a side note...
Yesterday we had the longest power outage, which lasted almost 7 hours. We hated it so much. I went out from 9AM to 2PM to escape the boredom but when I came home the power was still out. It upset me a lot because on my way home I was planning to take a clean shower and make a strawberry juice that would pay off the sweats and lost energy.
So I waited for an hour in the house until the sun went down a bit to go out and around in the neighborhood. It wasn't so hot outside fortunately. It was a pretty nice afternoon.
The kids were so noisy in the house so I took them out to play. Here's a couple of photos that I posted on my Facebook wall yesterday.

Oh, actually, I went to the animal market during my escape yesterday. Aaaand... I got my first snake bite ever in my life! :D *so proud* hehehe. I mean... when was your first snake bite, really? :p
I don't fear snakes. At least, the non venomous ones. Usually when I handle a snake at the market it doesn't bite. Yesterday was not an usual case. I wasn't holding the snake but it was a kid trying to play with it. I think he held it in a wrong way which freaked out the snake a little bit, and my hand just happened to be close to the snake's head. So, yea... it bit me. It got my finger pretty bloody but it didn't hurt. I didn't even know it was bleeding until some people whispered about it. I know... I could have checked where the snake bit me. I just didn't want to panic, I guess? Well I knew it was a just python so I knew it wasn't venomous.
Ummm, so, here's a photo of my bit poor finger:

You guys have a good day! I'm gonna get ready to go to Borobudur temple to watch the Wesak ceremony!

ReplyDeleteyikes! i've never been bitten by a snake! i think i'd be most afraid of dog bites though. rabies, arghhh! :D
I don't think I've ever bitten by a dog... But I haven been chased by one ;))
Deletei love this new design, it quite simple and clean.
ReplyDeletei couldn't imagine how hurt is snake bite, are they have many small sharp teeth or, they only have a pair of jaws?
bdw, enjoy your wesak ceremony experience
It wasn't painful as I wasn't expecting it to happen. But that doesn't mean I want to have another snake bite again! ;))
DeleteI actually didn't go to the ceremony.
Snake bite?? I hate snake! Its scary!!!!! Love your new layout btw. =)
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteNice new template - easy to read and kinda pretty!
ReplyDelete7 hours without power? Wow!
Snakebite? Snakes make me squirm so you won't find me near one anytime soon or ever. haha..
How awesome that you could just pop over to Borobudur to watch an event! You know, I joined a tour group and we had to cancel when Mt Bromo erupted. I think we were supposed to leave the same week too. Thank our lucky stars, perhaps. Show us pictures, please, or better yet write a post about it. Looking forward to it..
Oh, I've (shamefully) never been to Mt. Bromo!! I know, right! ;))
DeleteI actually didn't go to the temple last night.
How's your study so far, Rad?
ReplyDeleteI miss the 'older post' link. But your new layout is cleancut :)
Your new layout is nice, Rad. Snake bite? Ouch! I've never had a snake bite and hope I never do! The rice field there is a nice cheery green. I have never seen a rice field in person just in pictures. I've seen lots of corn and wheat and soybean fields, though. :)
ReplyDeleteGosh i dont know what happend...i added you in my google reading list but your posts didnt come up. Weird. This morning i went to SK blog and happen to see that your blog got updates.
ReplyDeleteHmm...this new layout looks ok but i thibk i still preferred the old one. Coz I like blue better than gray. Gray seems so sad. ANyway, as long as you like it's the most important :)
love your house back yard, how lucky you are to enjoy the rice field view anytime you want:)
