So I watched this video...

It was all about having a so-called "Spring Clean" detox for the next month or so. Basically, the aim is to have a "cleaner" diet, body, mind, and space -and healthier, too!

Here is the list of goals and rules of the week one (week of trial!) according to the video, but personal tweaks are allowed:

1. No sodas!
Okay, I don't drink soda already. Instead, I'm going to try something new. I will drink a bit of coffee every day, about 1-2 cups of it that comes with milk in the package. I will pick a brand that has the lowest amount of carbohydrate/sugar. I'm aware of the fact that coffee can be really healthy, too.

I will drink a cup in the morning and in the evening if I need to stay up later than usual for work or study.
2. More natural green teas
I drink tea but not always green tea. I will drink a cup or two of green tea every day for healthy energy and to help detox from the inside out. The antioxidants are good for the skin, anyway.
3. Drink tons of water
Okay, no one can drink TONS of water! But you get the idea. I will keep drinking water as usual. But this time I will count how many glasses of water are drunk everyday. I will keep them 8. In the video it says having slices of cucumber in the water can provide a nice taste. I might give it a try.

I drink Pocari Sweat everyday already. This drink, I have done my own little research at grocery stores by comparing to other drinks, has the lowest amount of carbohydrate/sugar -which is only 6g whereas the other drinks offer 20-25g. So, Pocari Sweat is good!
4. Eat more natural foods
I got to admit that I've not eaten enough fruits these days especially since school started. Today as I need to get a stock of shampoo and stuff I will get some fruits as well. Oh, and no fries! That'll be challenging because I love fried chicken! But, I know that's not impossible as long as I stay committed.
5. Only have "bready" carbs at one meal a day
"Bready" carbs include rice, breads, pasta, etc. I'll stick with rice. Since I hardly have so much time during the lunch time, I will have my "bready" meal at dinner when I have more time to enjoy my meal.

~Breakfast would be a semi-boiled egg and a cup of not-strong-coffee.

~Lunch would be ... hmmmm not sure what. Ahaha. I'll see what I can find in the grocery store for the lunches of the week.

~Dinner would be heavy: rice + soya sauce + salt! Ahaha no I'm joking! Again, I'll figure out the options.
6. Nighty cheat is allowed!
Chocolate at night, for example. I might just go for a cup of hot chocolate drink before bed after I study or work to help me relax.

In the video it says "fruits and veggies are good for your body, but chocolate is good for your soul" ;))
This is not supposed to make me suffer or starve. I will eat if I feel hungry, but especially for this week of trial I will remember the rules above.

Your suggestions are more than welcome! :D

I will start tomorrow until the next one week when I might have a different list of rules! ;)

Once again, this is more about having healthier eating habits -at least for the next month!

Cheers!
Happy Sunday!

  1. dark chocolate is supposed to be very healthy! rich in antioxidants. hmmm, and maybe it'd be OK to have more bread if you buy the wholewheat type instead of white bread.
good luck with all the goals! you can definitely do it, and i hope you feel healthier and happier for it! you can be my inspiration! :D

  2. Healthy eating habit is good. But don't go too overboard lest you find it difficult to follow and stop halfway.

    :)

    Stay healthy. :)

  3. Have you thought of trying whole grain "bready" stuff? EG brown/ red rice, whole grain pasta, quinoa, wholemeal bread instead of the overly processed white stuff?
Also beware of those coffees in a pre made packet - read the ingredients - there are often lots of chemicals in there. The less processed the better. Would you consider making your own coffee and then adding milk and sugar to your liking? At least then you know what's going into your body.

    1. Oh, thanks for the hint! I will try to get those bready stuff you hinted.
And, I just bought a good looking package of instant coffee... I will show it in my next blog post through a picture so you can tell if there are bad chemicals in the ingredients

    1. I'm aware of the benefits that green tea has, but I don't really like the bitter taste of it sometimes. In ice cream or other food products I like the taste of green tea! ;))

  12. Couldn't agree more, Chocolate is indeed good for your soul! I agree with the soda part, I chose grape soda for the beverage on yesterday's lunch, and I felt so thirsty at the rest of the day (-.-") a fruit salad is not a bad idea also, though, mixed fruit tastes nicer and refreshing

    1. I prefer mixed fruit in my salad too!

Grape soda? Purple Fanta? I can't think of any other soda brands... :p

    2. Hehehe no, it's F&N Grape Soda. Really not recommend it tho, it's tasty but leaves us thirsty the rest of the day

  13. What video did you watch? I think coffee is good if you drink it without creamer/milk and/or sugar. I can't stand plain black coffee. gor for tea, it doesn't have to be green. http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/antioxidants-in-green-and-black-tea
If you can't stand the bitternes, you can dilute it.

What's your favourite chocolate drink. so far I haven't found choco drink that's rich enough. Most of them are a bit too sweet for me and makes me even sleepier

    1. Oh! Thanks for the hint! I will check out the website, Teddy!

I'm quite easy on choco drink brands. I only buy that cheap Delfi Hot Cocoa instant choco. I'm interested in trying the Cadbury one, though.
