Here's my painting in the frame.
A lot of you, kind readers, thought, in the previous post, that the frame didn't really compliment the painting -which I agreed, totally.
Just an hour ago, while on Facebook, I stumbled into a picture that my brother took. He named it "Alone". Here's the picture.

I kind of found it quite interesting. It's a bit cliche because there are just simply too many 'alone' or 'lonely' themed photo shots out there! Nevertheless I think my brother is a great, talented learning photographer. He owns one of those over a thousand dollars expensive DSLRs and lenses! He's been so much into this thing just quite recently.
Back to the photo...
Regardless of the cliche-ness... I found a good kinda spot in the picture. I then asked my brother to email me a copy of the original picture so I can do anything to it using Photoshop.
I cropped it. Blackandwhite-ed it. Level-ed it. And everything else.
Hence this.

Hang on a second. I know. You're probably like "What the...", "Feet?", or "Mkaaaay...".
I found this cropped spot in the picture quite interesting. Not merely the feet, though. It is more of the fabric of the skirt that the girl's wearing. I like how the fabric is waved, how the fabric creates different tones of color, and how the feet are somehow just there out of the fabric. I thought the center of focus was the fabric rather than the feet.
Okay, basically, I found this cropped picture quite great to my standards. I could have a quite lame sense of art, you know! LOL
However....... here is the only hesitation why I'm still cooking the idea in my head whether I should print the picture and put it in the frame. I don't really care that much whether the frame is going to go along with the picture because I really do want to have the picture on my wall.
The Problem
Okay, so my only hesitation is, I feel uncomfortable to imagine that I am going to sleep every single night with feet above my head.
Ew.
I dislike the imagination. And, to make it even worse, it's some stranger's feet. Not some, ummm, Barrack Obama's feet. Okay that was not a good example either. I mean... if they were my mom's, I wouldn't mind having a picture of them above my head in my sleep.
So... I need you guys' vote again. Tell me if it is okay and not a big deal, or you agree with me.
The Question
Is it just a silly discomfort or fear of mine that's not a big deal at all? Or, the discomfort is reasonable?

oh, didn't realised that B&W photo is actually cropped from the "Alone" photo, wow, you are such artistic guy huh?? hey, have you tried matching the frame with this new B&W photo?? maybe it will look nice.. :)
ReplyDeleteNo. That's not the problem. I wanna know what you think of the idea of having a picture of feet above my headboard where my head is every night.
Deleteok ok, i get what you meant now.. well, if you really like this photo and do not like it above your head, then hang the photo elsewhere, simple!! :)
DeleteYes! I thought of that too, obviously! :)) The question I was really asking was more of whether it is a silly fear or discomfort for me to have or my discomfort is quite reasonable? - that is the discomfort of having a photo of some stranger's feet above my head every night.
Deletehahaha, well it really depends on how you see this photo.. is it just a pair of feet to you, or is it a piece of art to you.. place it elsewhere if you think like the former, but if you think like that latter it has nothing to do with where you want to place it as long as it looks good on the entire setting.. :)

DeleteGot it! I think I will try to place it above the bed and see how I will feel about it ;)
DeleteThanks! Can't wait to have it on the wall!
That's actually a "nice" portion that you cropped and the end result is quite something..and I like that photo your brother had captured.
ReplyDeletemmm..may be instead of it hanging above your head, you can hang it at the end of your bed..feet to feet?..hehe
:-)
Oh hmmm... I will actually seriously think about that. Thanks! :D
Deleteah, i think if it makes you even the slightest bit uncomfortable, then don't do it. maybe you can wait for your brother to take another photo that you could use, since it sounds like he's regularly shooting photographs :D
ReplyDeleteI just like the photo very much! ;)) That's the problem
DeleteInstead of putting it on top of your head, put it on the wall of your study table? It might be a better option? Provided its not directly opposite your bed? xD
DeleteI know... I did try placing the painting on different spots in the room. It looks a little too big for the wall of my desk, actually... hmmm...
DeleteThe cropped photo is actually much more interesting for me.
ReplyDeleteBut I would hesitate to use it as a bedroom piece. I rather have something soothing like scenery photos. I guess I'm not artsy enough? eh ;)
No, you could be right! My brother who took the photo actually just said a similar thing that I should go for more of a scenery painting.
DeleteI hope I will come up with the right decision :)
xixixi great idea, i think her peeled nail polish look interesting too
ReplyDeleteIn a disgusting way?
DeleteI think where ever you hang the picture will be fine even if it is of stranger's feet. I think maybe just at first you might feel odd about the feet in the picture, but very quickly you will get used to them being there and not even think about it. Anyway, if you try it and it really does continue to bother you, then you could always move it to a new location later. :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you're right. I think I'm gonna give it a go and see how it'll turn out :)
Deletetruth to be told,
ReplyDeleteseeing the "alone" picture, i was like, "oh, alright.." but the the black and white picture, the feet, i just, you know, it's deep... We often missed out the tiny beautiful details such as this cos we're so in to the big picture... I like it Rad... I mean, dont really fancy how the picture is kind of blur... If it's sharper, it'll be good, but who am i to say? As long as you like it! :)
I've always been a huge fan of macro shots. I know that the cropped photo is not a macro but If I were my brother to own such camera I would have paid more attention to small details to avoid photos being cliche
DeleteHi Rad! I do like your painting and the original frame (if you decide to switch to other frame) the way it is. About the "alone" picture, I think it's a bit depressive for me though I like the luscious green color it gives.
ReplyDeletePersonally I don't like a zoomed-in picture of feet hanging above my bed. Since your bedroom wall is white, It's like having a black/dark grey splotch in a white room.
Thanks! I'll need to look for a brighter canvas and repaint a similar drawing.
DeleteI kinda agree with you. I actually don't have anything that's black/dark grey in the theme of the white room.
i actually love the feet and fabric as you have cropped it. i think it tells a story. in fact many stories. its just up to your imagination. love it! but if you don;t like it over your head...well hang it elsewhere. Its brilliant!
ReplyDeletehmmmm I'll see what I can about it :p
DeleteAdit,
ReplyDeleteThe picture would be perfect for a boutique (like my studio) or a living-room, taking your interpretation of it into consideration. But the feet above your head....I do agree it's kinda scary....
Yay! I'm glad someone finally agreed with me! I still think it's uncomfortable ;))
DeleteThanks!
Wow! You really are an artistic guy! I would never have thought to zoom in and crop the feet. Awesome! I do like the original picture too. Looks like you're a family of artists.
