So, today at the fourth lesson of the (exciting) Japanese class we learnt how to write in Katakana. Obviously, I couldn't use my own writing over here therefore I copied the letters from Wikipedia: Katakana.
The other day we learnt Hiragana. And, I'm going to show some of what we have undergone in the first four classes.
First time writing in Hiragana and I made only slight mistakes(!) which were already corrected as soon as I noticed them. It was like just a letter that should have been a u instead of an o :D

How I did
The mistakes are mostly because there are words that should only be written in Katakana which are basically foreign words. I just got it checked this evening so I will correct the mistakes tomorrow during a break in the dayI like it that the classes are in the evening so I can attend them after work. And, the first class was just last week which was just over one week after I did the registration. It got me so excited even more(!)
The other day, I went for a quick dinner at this Japanese restaurant. I was expecting sushi but they still hadn't had them ready. Pity. How I miss sushi. They actually had misconcepted-sushi-onigiri. I just learnt that onigiri is not sushi but the cook kept saying that they had sushi onigiri. BTW, so, I ordered tepanyaki chicken, matcha, and ice lemon tea. I actually took a photo of the matcha but I thought it wouldn't be so interesting as it was only green tea ice cream with some chocolate flakes all over it.
I'm the biggest fan of (cooked!) chicken.

And... the point of this post is actually that I had a good day today and it made me *finally* happy -for a reason that only family and very close friends know.

What's the point of the point of this post? Future me will probably wonder what the hell happened on a random date like the 14th of Dec, 2011?! LOL. I just really needed to make this post for myself for the record for what happened today and what had made me happy today because it was super special involving over ten years of something.
wow, katakana looks incredibly difficult to learn! all those squiggles & lines. bravo to you for taking this class! y'know, i can't even write my own name in chinese! :D
ReplyDeletehope you get to satisfy your sushi craving soon! i'm usually not a fan of onigiri 'cos it seems to contain too much rice & too little fish or other ingredients! anyways, that looks like a lot of sesame seeds on the teppanyaki chicken. hope you're a sesame fan, heheh :D

Oh, Sean, I also noticed that it somehow surprised your friends that you had Chinese meal the other day. And, now I learnt you can't write in Chinese. Good that you don't reside in China :p :p

ReplyDeleteAnd, Katakana is not that difficult. The letters can be quite confusing, though because some look similar to other letters. Writing wise, it is not that difficult (fortunately!) :D
whew, i always admire my friends who learned Japanese. all the types of writings seem so confusing (>_<") way to go Rad! XD
ReplyDeleteHaha no its not as confusing as you are certain it is. I thought the same thing too and had the fear but after just two classes I found that the language is quite easy to learn. Go consider learning the language! :)

ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! I'm not a big fan of reading litteratures myself but I do read and collect some. And, to me, reading the original writing of the author is way better than the translation.

I think Mandarin is even tougher than Japanese!
