I'm not going to say much in this blog post, 'cause I have tons of photos to share. The kids and I just finished making our Halloween cake! I thought about this some time last week when I saw this YouTube video about how to make a Halloween cake, and was so much inspired by it. I wanted something special for this Halloween especially for the kids. I'm sure that they know about Halloween from TV so why the heck not celebrate it a little bit!
Us interrupting my mom who was watching TV in her room to take this photo for us. I'm not even kidding but there are probably almost a hundred photos in the camera roll on my iPhone just from tonight alone! My mom's just not good at taking pictures! But, this one was considered very good!
And, here are some more photos of how the cake was prepared.
I decided to buy a Brownie from SuperIndo because I couldn't bother my mom to help me bake a new cake.
These are for the decorations. There were actually three other things that we bought later at a different store but forgot to include them with these ones in the photo.
First step was to separate the vanilla cream from the Oreo biscuits one by one because we only needed the biscuits.
We crushed the biscuits. We also wanted to keep them a little rough instead of too powdery.
I melted some blocks of chocolate in the microwave. I actually put a bit of water so that it wouldn't be too condensed.
I smeared the melted chocolate all over the cake. Actually, it didn't cover the entire area of the cake. So, the back side of the cake, which can't be seen in this photo, was not really covered with chocolate.
We then fairly spread the crushed Oreo on the cake to create the dirt. And, BTW, Oreo is perfect for the dirt because the biscuits are not brown but deep black.
Next step was to decorate the dirt. We placed some ChaCha chocolate balls around so they'd look like small dirt stones.
And by the way, I wanted to create a graveyard themed cake so I thought there had to be gravestones. But, I stupidly forgot to take a photo of how we made the gravestones -which is very simple actually. So, for the gravestones, we used vanilla cream flavored TimTam and wrote RIP using the leftover melted chocolate. That's it! And, it wasn't so easy for my niece to write using the chocolate but it was totally fine as we were going for a sort of messy look of a cake anyway!
Then, we added some worms using worm candy from Yupi and fences in the back using those stick-crackers. We also made a couple of ghosts using lollipops covered with tissue.
Voila! We wanted the worms to look as if they were real and alive and coming out of the dirt! How cool is that?!

That's it! It was easy, MESSY for sure!, and very successful! :) I think we're all happy with how it turned out in the end. Just can't wait to actually eat the cake tomorrow! My niece actually said a few times, "Oh, we shouldn't eat the cake 'cause that's gonna ruin everything". I replied, "That's why I've been taking photos of it, with us too!"
Happy Halloween!
Wish you scary night!
